Personal Computer Assembly - Page 2 Empty Importance of knowing your motherboard(MOBO) specification.

Tue Oct 03, 2017 7:35 pm
Understanding your motherboard is about pointing out what the bits of your motherboard actually do, if you are not used to building or upgrading your own machine you will want to know the ins and outs of the motherboard. The motherboard is a very important piece of equipment in your PC as it is connected to everything. Anything of major importance is plugged straight into the board. Some things on a motherboard are meant to be changed and altered to suit your own specifications, other things are strictly to be left alone unless fully qualified.
Here are 5 important MOBO specification when assembling a computer unit:
#1 CPU SOCKET
The first thing that comes to play when choosing a motherboard is selecting the CPU you will need that fits your budget or needs. CPUs come in various socket types. For example, the Intel LGA 1150 has the widest range of supported processors, from Celerons to i3s all the way up to i7s. For the AMD sockets, you got the flagship AM3+ in comparison. With each new generation of CPUs, a new type of socket can be introduced. Once you have chosen the CPU of your choice, you can move on to the chipsets. If you plug the CPU in a wrong socket there is a big possibility of breaking both your MOBO and CPU.
#2 CHIPSETS
Chipsets are the main chips that get fitted into motherboards and they allow certain numbers of features to work. The number of the latest features usually refreshes in the latest chipsets as new technology gets introduced and both Intel and AMD motherboards have their range of chipsets to choose from. Some chipsets allow the use of integrated graphics – that is outputting to your display so that you don’t need to make a separate purchase of a graphic card. Other chipsets allows more PCI express lanes to drive more graphic cards. Each chipset can come with its own perks or limitations. Ultimately, it comes down to how many of the features you will be needing with this one.
#3 FORM FACTOR/SIZE
Motherboards comes in a multitude of sizes in which form factor is used, this ranges from the smallest Mini-ITX to the E-ATX. The size of motherboard has a direct impact on the number of features that can be packed into the board. For example, some smaller motherboards only have two slots for memory. Choosing the form factor also depends on how big you want your systems to be. Most standard mid-towers can sometimes fit up to an E-ATX. While it can definitely fit a smaller board, it may not look good in the process.
#4 INTEGRATED ADD-ONS
If you will be needing wireless networking, or Bluetooth from the start, these are good things to consider when making the decision on a motherboard because it will save you time if you want to add it in later with an expansion card. Integrated features are already soldered onto the motherboard and all you will need are working drivers to get it up and running when you install the OS.
#5 BRAND
The final item on this list of things to consider when making that motherboard purchase is the brand. Various manufacturers have great aftermarket services and their history in producing motherboards. Additionally, the level of expertise and coverage a manufacturer has directly impacts drivers and compatibility with certain components. The manufacturer you choose also may play a part in your decision if you decide to one day create a Hackintosh PC. Certain boards are known to be extra-compatible while others aren’t so doing the right research can come a long way.

You will need to know these specifications when assembling a computer so that there will be no inconveniences and mismatch when assembling one.

Troubleshooting or dépanneuring is a form of problem solving, often applied to repair failed products or processes on a machine or a system. It is a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem in order to solve it, and make the product or process operational again. Troubleshooting is needed to identify the symptoms. Determining the most likely cause is a process of elimination—eliminating potential causes of a problem. Finally, troubleshooting requires confirmation that the solution restores the product or process to its working state.

In general, troubleshooting is the identification of diagnosis of "trouble" in the management flow of a corporation or a system caused by a failure of some kind. The problem is initially described as symptoms of malfunction, and troubleshooting is the process of determining and remedying the causes of these symptoms.

Just like what the others have said, motherboard is a PC’s most important component. It holds several components of the computer such as CPU, memory, connectors for I/O device, circuitry and etc. There are different types of motherboard. We need to know the specification of the motherboard because the component that you will put in the motherboard might not be compatible with the specification of motherboard. The size of some components might not fit in the motherboard because it is not compatible with the motherboard's specification. It will cause errors that might result in malfunction during the booting process of the computer, when using the computer, or the computer will not work/run.

It is important to know the motherboard specifications before building up a system or even before deciding what components to use. It is vital since the core components of a computer lives within the motherboard.

1. It is important to know the chipset that the motherboard supports, since the chipset should be compatible to the CPU you are using. For example, a motherboard with an Intel X299 chipset will only support Intel Skylake- X and Kaby Lake- X. Other processors will not be recognized by the motherboard since the CPU does not support the chipset. The chipset will also decide for some features, such as overclocking, Thunderbolt, number of PCIe lanes, etc.

2. It is important to know the socket that the motherboard supports, especially on Intel CPUs. Intel CPUs use different sockets, such as LGA2011, LGA2011-3, LGA1156, and mixing up sockets will be a problem. AMD users would also encounter the same problem if they skip generations. Socket information is important to be obtained before choosing a processor, because every single pin counts.

3. It is important to know the RAM type and speed that the motherboard can accept. It is important to obtain exact data since a different RAM type may actually hinder you from passing the Power On Self Test.

4. It is important to know the size of the motherboard before even deciding for a case, since the motherboard will dictate the case size, whether it is mITX, mATX, ATX, or eATX.

5. The motherboard will also dictate the power requirement for it to run stable, though a power overhead may be required if ever overclocking is desired in the future.

We must and we should know the motherboard specifications before we start to assemble the system unit. Why? because it is very important to know what type of motherboard is it, how fast and efficient that motherboard is and the memory capacity of it. Is it compatible to the system unit? How many slots does it have? You must first ask yourself these questions before analyzing and start doing that assembly thing. We should know how that type of motherboard works so that when you assemble it it will work properly and effectively.

In knowing the moterboard's assembly, its necessary to learn the system's specifications such as;
-Whenever you purchase software or hardware for your computer, you should first make sure your computer supports the system requirements,
if your computer does not meet all of these requirements, the game will not run very well or might not run at all.
system specifications contains every simple detail, regarding the pheriperals, connections, and other processing. and with lack of knowledge on it, motherboards assembly may not succeed, and function as it should.

Importance of troubleshooting
Better troubleshooting skills mean greater opportunity for improvement. Probably that is the reason why true success is not believed to be in preventing problems from occurring at all but in troubleshooting when they do occur. This explains why problem seekers are usually more creative than problem avoiders.

What do you mean by cache memory on motherboard?

The basic purpose of cache memory is to store program instructions that are frequently referenced by software during operation. Fast access to these instructions increases the overall speed of the software program.

Why motherboard is sensitive?

Because it contains all the components that are needed to make computer operate. Because if we happen to break any parts or components, it is more likely that the computer will not be able to function.
